Wilhelm Foundation’s goal is for all people with Undiagnosed Diseases to be diagnosed
350 million People Living With an Undiagnosed Disease (PLWUD) worldwide.
Genome sequencing can provide answers for 40% of children and adults with undiagnosed diseases, but around 60% still don’t receive a diagnosis.
We have to do more!
The Wilhelm Foundation’s primary goal is to ensure that every individual, both children and adults, who struggles with an undiagnosed disease receives a prompt and accurate diagnosis. We are dedicated to advancing medical research and collaborative efforts to uncover the causes of undiagnosed conditions, aiming to provide answers to those in need.
The Undiagnosed Hackathon is a global initiative aimed at diagnosing complex undiagnosed diseases that have eluded traditional medical approaches. Organized by the Wilhelm Foundation, the hackathon brings together multidisciplinary teams—including clinicians, geneticists, bioinformaticians, molecular biologists and AI specialists, and patient advocates—to collaborate intensively over 48 hours.
The 3rd Undiagnosed Hackathon is scheduled to take place from September 21 to 23, 2025, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA. It's a collaboration between Wilhelm Foundation and Mayo Clinic. This event brings together a global community of clinicians, bioinformaticians, molecular biologists, scientists, developers, AI specialists, and other experts to tackle complex cases of undiagnosed diseases.
