Hugo Fellows

The Hugo Fellows program brings together an exceptional group of young clinicians, scientists, bioinformaticians, geneticists, data specialists and innovators who are committed to finding new ways to solve undiagnosed diseases.

Each Hugo Fellow has already contributed their expertise, creativity and dedication at a Wilhelm Foundation Undiagnosed Hackathon. They have demonstrated not only outstanding professional skills, but also the open-mindedness, generosity and collaborative spirit that are essential to the success of the Undiagnosed Hackathon.

Hugo Fellows are appointed for a two-year period. During this time, they participate in at least one Undiagnosed Hackathon each year, contribute to the continued investigation of unresolved cases and help strengthen an international community working beyond institutions, countries and professional boundaries.

The programme supports the next generation of specialists who are willing to challenge established methods, share their knowledge and continue searching for answers—even after the 48-hour Undiagnosed Hackathon has ended.

The Hugo Fellows are named in memory of Hugo Cederroth. Hugo brought happiness wherever he went, and his joyful spirit will always be remembered. Through the Hugo Fellows, his name continues to represent hope, determination and the belief that we must never give up on people living with undiagnosed diseases.

Wilhelm Foundation supports the Hugo Fellows so they can bring their expertise to future Undiagnosed Hackathons and help advance our shared mission: to find new ways to solve the undiagnosed diseases that cannot be solved today.
